Radiohead: In Rainbows Preview (2007)

Album Previews

Holy shit. In an unprecedented move, Thom Yorke and company will be releasing their highly anticipated LP In Rainbows on October 10, less than 3 months after putting the finishing touches on the Nigel Godrich-produced album. It's been four years since Hail To The Thief and this time around the band is having a go at it without the backing of a record label. But wait, here's where things get even more interesting. The release will be available in two formats: as a digital download or as a deluxe edition. The deluxe edition will run £40 (that's approximately $81) and will contain In Rainbows on two 12" vinyl records as well as two compact discs, one of which will contain extra songs which are unavailable through the digital download. The digital download version will contain 10 songs and will cost whatever you feel like paying for it. Seriously. You can enter your own digits in the blank price field. So for those of you who aren't fully comprehending this, let me simplify it for you. There's a new Radiohead album coming out in less than two weeks, and you can have it for pennies. It's a brilliant marketing ploy, and hopefully it will inspire other artists who really don't need the money to use similar strategies. Click HERE to pre-order your copy. Here's the rumored tracklist, as well as a live version of "Nude," which is said to appear on the album. -- Capt. Obvious
