You Should Know
Seems like revisiting the past is all the rage in the indie music scene. While Brooklyn three-piece The Diggs have a decidedly mid-90's indie rock sound, they pull it off as good as any new band I've heard. Led by lead singer Timothy Lannen, The Diggs pull from shoegaze and early emo. In fact, a lot of moments on the band's new album Ctrl-Alt-Del reminded me of Sunny Day Real Estate and Knapsack (look them up if you've never heard of them, another fine 90's indie band). The album's nostalgic sound comes to life with the help of Howie Weinberg (Sonic Youth, Nirvana, Oasis), who mastered the album and Rudyard Lee Cullers (Ryan Adams' Rock N' Roll, Yeah Yeah Yeahs' Isis EP), who lends his mixing expertise. While The Diggs aren't exactly doing anything new with Ctrl-Alt-Del, they do what they do very well and their music recalls some of my favorite 90's bands without coming off as gimmicky or insincere. The album is on repeat. Lovely. -- Capt. Obvious

I'll never forget seeing The Diggs play a gig at The Westchester Sports Grill on Manchester. These guys rawk so hard my eyes bleed. In fact, they rawked so hard that night, the lead singer of the next band went blind and wore tie dye. Amazing.
Best Diggs song ever: "Waiting for Mary"
Oh man, remember that Diggs show where they left the drink tickets unattended and we all got hammered? My favorite song that night was "Home for the Hollidays".
I was there. Amazing stuff. The keyboard player kicked over the stool!!!! great stuff. "Waiting for Mary" is good but in the end just a thinly/poorly veiled song about marijuana addiction. It can't hold a light to "I said it before and baby, I will say it again"

Saw them a couple times - at Molly Malone's, Brennan's, The Roxy. They had the best sound checks of any band I've ever witnessed.
Their bassist stole my banjo
only band clever enough to cover "Brown Eyed Girl." Nice find, boys.
I saw these guys open up for "The John Caliguri" Band a few years ago at Genghis Gohen on Fairfax. One of the best nights of my life...I picked up this really cute chick while in line for the bathroom, and I found $20 in my coat pocket...I don't really remember the band very much though.
This one time they played a four hour show at Brennan's on Lincoln in Venice. It was awesome -- they got called back for an encore...BUT THEY HAD PLAYED ALL THERE SONGS!!! They went in to an extended version of Nothing I Can Do that rocked my world! Also, i totally hooked up with this really hot chick who dug flannels.
Isn't this the band that dressed up in suits and ties and played a show for like seven people?! I saw the keyboard player take a hit of acid (during the set) and then proceed to do slides up and down the keys all night. After the show he grabbed my girlfriend's boob. We almost got in a fight. But then he gave me a hit of acid too. All's fair in love and hallucinogens. Plus, we're married now.
