Yow-zah. I am still reeling from the previous 4 posts of your list! I must say that there seems to be a few familiar names on my own...only time will tell.
Damn, now I am really going to have to buy that Frightened Rabbit album.

I don't know you, but from this I am very confident we could be friends.
The Rural Alberta Advantage CD made my summer, and there are many others on this I love.
Have you listened to the Entire Cities album Deep River?
hey ian, haven't heard deep river. i'll seek it out.
Fantastic list. Frightened Rabbit was my number one as well! And I'm so happy to see Chad VanGaalen at number 2. I'll be sure to check out the albums here I haven't heard.
Great list, but I am still trying to understand why BON IVER, For Emma Forever Ago, was not included. Did I miss it? Otherwise, I agree wholeheartedly with your list, as well as your recommendations throughout the year. However, in my opinion that album should be in at least the top three. In all seriousness, your blog is great, and thank you for exposing my to J. Tillman.
to answer your question, bon iver was self-released in 2007 and got its re-release on jagjaguwar this year. i had it as my number 1 of last year and decided not to include it this year because it would be redundant. it probably would have been number 1 this year too had i included it.
Where is GNR's Chinese Democracy, Cap? This deliberate omission is the last straw, I am deeply offended by your lack of appreciation for an album of such grandeur and sweat equity. Wait, the equity probably doesn't match the sweat put out.
j/k. good lists. i need to listen to more Frightened Rabbit.
a zip of all 50 songs would be super sweet. kindof a cap's NOW 2008. good stocking stuffer.
Lovely list. Glad to see Sun Kil Moon up there :)
How about Steve Reynolds??
I see that you liked the Samamidon record. Did you check out Nico Muhly's Mothertongue? Amidon sings on the closing suite of tracks, "The Only One," and it's a remarkable performance.
